Tom McLaughlin Elected Chair of the Ontario Home Builders’ Association

Collingwood, Sept. 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA), the voice of the residential construction industry in Ontario, announced the election of Tom McLaughlin, of Guelph, as the 58th Chair of the OHBA Board of Directors for the 2026-2027 term.  

Tom is the Vice-President of Finance & Controller for Thomasfield Homes, a family-owned and operated builder in Southern Ontario. 

Said McLaughlin “I grew up around business from a very young age. Some of my earliest memories are sitting on laps at AGMs, being around Sunday board meetings, stuffing envelopes, entering data, and watching adults deal with serious business decisions. Those experiences shaped the way I think. They gave me an early appreciation for systems, responsibility, risk, decision-making, and the seriousness of building something that has to last.” 

Tom has been involved with OHBA for over five years, and most recently served as 1st Vice President of OHBA’s Board of Directors, as well as serving on several committees.  McLaughlin expanded on the role of OHBA and his reasons for being involved “The job of OHBA is to fight for a system that allows our members to do more of that to build more homes, support more families, and create more communities across Ontario. My local association roots through Grand Highlands HBA, and my broader connection to Guelph, Wellington, Dufferin, and Waterloo Region reinforces the idea that advocacy starts locally, with real builders, real communities, and real challenges.” 

The OHBA Conference is an annual three-day event which brings together a diverse group of delegates from across Ontario’s home-building industry to connect, collaborate and celebrate. This year’s conference is being held at Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood from September 27-29, 2026.
